Municipal Court Warrants in Elmore County
A municipal court controls cases arising from its own city ordinances and certain state-law misdemeanor or traffic offenses within city limits. A judge may issue a bench warrant after a required appearance is missed. That city process is distinct from an Elmore County District Court traffic case or a felony handled in Circuit Court. The caption on the citation matters more than the place where a person lives.
Millbrook, Wetumpka, Tallassee, Coosada, and Eclectic publish separate court contacts and payment rules. Their records are not merged into a verified countywide public warrant search. The Elmore County Sheriff may assist a city or hold a person in county custody, but the issuing municipal court still confirms whether its order is active, recalled, or satisfied.

A city citation should identify the municipal court and often carries a Uniform Traffic Ticket number. An Elmore County District Court ticket follows the county Traffic Division route instead. A similar charge can therefore have different payment, plea, and missed-date rules based on the court printed on the paper.
| Paper names | Status source | First step |
|---|---|---|
| Millbrook, Wetumpka, Tallassee, Coosada, or Eclectic | Named municipal court | Call its clerk or magistrate |
| Elmore County District Court | District Court Traffic Division | Use the court directory or ticket portal |
| Elmore County Circuit Court | Circuit Criminal or Warrants division | Call the Circuit Clerk |
Which Cities Have Municipal Courts
Official pages confirm municipal court channels for five places in or near the county's main city network. Each court has its own clerk contact and limits. Deatsville and Elmore town do not have independently verified municipal court pages in the research, so a reader should use the citation and current town office for routing instead of borrowing another city's procedure.
| City | Court | What It Handles |

Millbrook Municipal Warrants in Elmore County
Millbrook's official court instructions publish the clearest local failure-to-appear sequence. A first failure to pay or appear leads to notice and a new court date. A second failure at that new date can lead to a judge-issued bench warrant and a driver-license suspension.
The official Millbrook Municipal Court page shows the building and public contact point.
This view distinguishes the municipal court location from the separate Millbrook Police address.
Payment is not a neutral status update. Millbrook says only the offender may pay, the clerk must witness the ticket's waiver, and a payment through the magistrate or by mail is a guilty disposition. Payment must arrive at least 24 hours before court. A not-guilty plea must be entered in court, and listed serious charges require an appearance.
Millbrook's two-step rule is specific to Millbrook. Do not assume Wetumpka, Tallassee, Deatsville, or Elmore town uses it.
How to Check a Municipal Court Warrant
There is no verified public Elmore County municipal warrant portal that searches every city. Start with the named municipal clerk. Have the citation or case number, full legal name, date of birth, and court date ready, but provide them only through a verified city or court channel. Ask for current process and instructions, not just a balance.
- Read the citation heading and note the exact municipal court, citation or case number, and date.
- Use the city's official court page or call its clerk or magistrate. Wetumpka and Millbrook post payment tools, but neither is a complete warrant index.
- If the paper names a county court, call the Elmore Circuit Clerk directory at (334) 514-3116. Traffic uses extensions 4400 or 4401, District Criminal 4412, and Circuit Criminal 4410.
- Call the Sheriff's Office at (334) 567-5546 for law-enforcement routing or the jail at (334) 567-5441 for custody questions. Call before appearing if arrest is possible.
- Use Just One Look only as a paid docket cross-check. Some cases may not appear, and it is not a warrant index.
- For a specific county-held record, use the County form and residency rules. A county records request cannot make a city create a record or replace the municipal clerk's status answer.
Elmore County Municipal Warrant Calendars
City court schedules vary. Wetumpka Municipal Court posts plea hearings on the first Tuesday and trials on the third Thursday, while noting that extra sessions may be set. Tallassee posts court on the first Friday. Coosada uses the third Tuesday, and Eclectic the third Thursday. The date printed on the citation or a later notice controls.
Wetumpka's official court source provides a view of its municipal court schedule and location.
The posted calendar is a routing aid, while the date on the current citation or notice remains the case-specific source.
Call first when a date was missed. A posted monthly pattern does not prove that a warrant exists or that a new appearance may be set without a judge.
What a Municipal Court Warrant Shows
A useful city record connects the person, citation, court, alleged offense, missed date, and the judge's current order. Not every clerk provides the same fields online. Ask the clerk to read the operative status and next court action, then request written proof of any later recall or satisfaction.
| Citation or case number | The exact identifier on the ticket, such as a UTC number UTC NUMBER, rather than a guessed name match |
|---|---|
| Charge or offense | The city ordinance, traffic count, or misdemeanor alleged |
| Issuing court | The municipal court and judge or magistrate connected to the process |
| Dates | Issue date, missed appearance, later setting, return, or recall entry |
| Financial terms | Fine, costs, bond, or balance, which does not by itself prove active status |
| Status or order | Active, served, recalled, satisfied, or another term confirmed by the court |
Elmore County Municipal Warrant Terms
FTA means failure to appear. FTP may mean failure to pay. A bench warrant is the common label for court arrest process after noncompliance, while an alias warrant is a later arrest warrant such as Alabama form C-65a. Capias is another arrest-process term, but no Elmore source says it always means the same thing as a bench warrant.
- Recall or quash
- A court action that withdraws the process. Payment alone does not prove it occurred.
- Judge-signed writ
- Elmore Sheriff's FAQ describes some FTA custody process this way and says it is not a warrant for sheriff bond approval.
- Return
- A record of service or execution sent back to the court, not a dismissal.
- Satisfied
- A condition has been met, though a clerk or judge may still need to update the order.
The document and issuing court control. Ask what term appears in the file and what act changes its status.
Resolving a Municipal Court Warrant
The issuing city court decides how its process is resolved. The answer may be a new hearing, judge review, a motion to recall or quash, payment, proof, surrender, or bond. City payment rules differ, and paying may waive trial without automatically recalling a warrant. A licensed Alabama lawyer can contact the court when appearing may expose the person to arrest.
- Confirm the city court, case or citation number, process type, active status, and current order.
- Ask whether a judge appearance, lawyer-filed motion, payment, proof, surrender, or bond is required. Do not guess from a fee line.
- Ask whether payment is a guilty plea and whether it clears the warrant or only pays the underlying fine.
- Follow the court's approved method and deadline. Keep each receipt, filed motion, order, and new date.
- Obtain written confirmation that the warrant or writ was recalled, quashed, served, or satisfied.
- If a license action was reported, verify that status with ALEA separately. License status is not warrant status.
Warning: Do not walk into a court or jail on an assumed warrant status. Call the issuing court and discuss counsel first.
Elmore County Municipal Warrant Payments
Payment methods and cutoff rules change by city. Millbrook accepts listed cash, cashier's check, money order, and cards, with payment due at least 24 hours before court. Tallassee Municipal Court lists cash, money order, and cards. Coosada bars personal checks for its listed no-appearance route. Eclectic says payment must be received 48 hours before court and a postmark does not count.
Wetumpka permits online or in-person payment with a citation or case number. None of those tools should be treated as a complete city warrant search. Before paying after a missed date, ask the clerk whether the charge can be paid without an appearance, whether payment waives trial, and whether a judge must recall the warrant.
The Millbrook payment and court instruction source shows why city-specific rules must be read closely.
The instructions connect payment with waiver and court-date rules, not with a universal promise of warrant recall.
The Tallassee Municipal Court source provides a separate clerk and calendar route.
Tallassee directs records questions to the clerk or magistrate, which differs from treating a judge as the records contact.
Note: No current Elmore County municipal warrant amnesty, citywide warrant portal, or universal municipal bond window was verified.
Elmore County Municipal Warrant Service
Elmore County sources do not publish a city-marshal or constable matrix. A municipal court may issue the process, while city police or the Sheriff may execute it. The county jail houses municipal and county inmates, but custody does not shift authority over the underlying city case to the Sheriff.
The Sheriff Most Wanted interface is a curated public-safety program, not a full municipal warrant roll. An absent name proves nothing about a Millbrook, Wetumpka, or Tallassee case. When custody is involved, confirm the jail status and the municipal court order as two separate facts. For the countywide publication distinction, the Elmore County Most Wanted page explains why a curated list is not an official negative warrant check.
